Wild Style at 25

The New York Times' David Gonzalez, who is usually hot on the trail of any Bronx buzz, has a great "City Room" article chronicling the seminal days of hip-hop seen through the lens of this rag tag 1983 movie. It's hard to believe that Wild Style is 25 years old.

Wild Style is a cult classic that was one of the first "mainstream" (although not really as main stream as "Breakin'" and other Hollywood caricatures of hip-hop culture that followed) hip-hop movies.

Lest we forget about the place of the Bronx in the history of hip-hop, let us remember Fat Joe's words:

"The Bronx mothered this rap sh*t."
