Event Reminders: TGIF!


First Friday Event @ Bronx Museum
Join the Bronx Museum's First Fridays! musical tribute to the forces of fire and healing. Hosted by Marinieves Alba/The Zol Lab and featuring live music by Afro-Caribbean group Illu Aye with DJ Laylo, this event will have you on your feet and inspired. Event takes place tonight, 12/5, from 6 to 10pm in the South Wing's Lower Gallery. Admission is free. Click here for more info.


Los Nutcrackers @ BAAD
“HO! HO! HO!" becomes "HA! HA! HA!" this holiday season with LOS NUTCRACKERS: A CHRISTMAS CARAJO. This queer, Latino, holiday play returns for the 5th triumphant year to celebrate the holidays in a whole new way. Shows are December 5, 6, 11, 12, and 13 at 8pm and December 7 at 3pm. Fordham Road Holiday Lighting Ceremony
Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion, Jr. & The Bronx Tourism Council invite you to attend the Fordham Road Lighting Ceremony this evening, 12/5, at 7pm in Bryan Park (E. Fordham Road and E. Kingsbridge Road). Santa Claus will be there, along with free gifts and books for kids and holiday music provided by the Fordham University Gospel Choir and the Learning Tree. Studio 889 Holiday Print Show
This weekend is the kick-off to Studio 889's second annual Holiday Print Show, which is an exhibition of hand-pulled prints by resident artists, as well as prints contributed by community artists and selected artists who responded to an open call for printmakers (from the five boroughs to France, from Peru to Canada - many are participating). There will be an opening reception tomorrow, 12/6, from 2:30 to 5:30pm. The top price is $125. Holiday Events @ Wave Hill
--Tomorrow, 12/6, and Sunday, 12/7, from 1 to 4pm, Wave Hill presents a "Season's Greetings" Family Art Project which will center around making live-action holiday cards.

Santa's Visit to 204th Street
Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera is sponsoring Santa's visit to 204th Street tomorrow, 12/6, from 10:30 to 11:30am. The first 50 children in attendance will receive a free gift and their will be discount coupons for a lot of the stores on 204th Street for the adults. The event will take place at Capital One Bank at 206th Street and Bainbridge Avenue.


Bronx Library Center Events
--There will be a Resume Writing Workshop for adults tomorrow, 12/6, at 10am.
--"A Christmas Carol" will be performed by the Traveling Lantern Theatre Company tomorrow, 12/6, at 2pm. Recommended for kids ages 5 to 12.
--Sonido Costeno will perform tomorrow, 12/6, at 2:30pm. Sonido Costeno has been performing in New York City for over 15 years and has won much acclaim. They will be performing a mix of Latin music including up-tempo Salsa, Cuban Son, Bomba+Plena and their own blend of cha-cha and reggae.

Events @ Lehman College
--Our Lady of 121st Street by Stephen Guirgis will be presented in the Studio Theatre tonight, 12/5, and tomorrow, 12/6, at 8pm and Sunday, 12/7, at 3:30pm. Click here for more info.
--The Lehman College and Community Chorus will present its annual free Winter Concert on Sunday, December 7, at 2:30 p.m. in the Lehman College Performing Arts Center. Lessons and Carols @ Fordham University
The Fordham University Choir presents their annual Festival of Lessons and Carols in the University Church this Sunday, 12/7, at 3pm. Get there early for a seat.
