We need some sponsoring organizations to step up to the plate. Please pass this along to any organizations you think would qualify for the funds.Have a great idea for a community improvement project? Apply for a New Yorkers for Better Neighborhoods Award! Citizens Committee for New York City awards grants of $500 to $3,000 to volunteer-led groups to work on projects that bring neighbors together and that have a positive impact on the community. Some of our grants are specifically for beautification projects carried out by public school-based student groups.
Past award recipients have brought neighbors together to purchase fresh, locally grown food that was not available in their communities, transformed empty lots into community gardens, organized tenants to preserve low-income housing, and created projects that foster understanding and collaboration among youth.
In addition to small grants, we offer one-on-one project planning assistance, skills-building workshops, and a resource center with access to computer stations, conference space and an equipment loan library.

I applied for a grant to build a dog park in Mott Haven (in St. Mary's Park) and was granted $1,500 bucks. They are eager to provide money to the Bronx and community groups/association. It can be ANYTHING that improves the community, like street plantings, beautification, clean-up, etc.
If anyone would like assistance in applying for a grant or advice, please email me. It's very easy and can make a big difference in the your neighborhood. We are getting a dog park!
