Since the stunning debut of the Osmany Paredes Quartet at Jazz Standard's New Dimensions in Latin Jazz series in 2007, the young group has been recognized as one of the outstanding participants in the new wave of progressive Afro-Cuban jazz in New York City.

Fusing the traditions of European classical music, the vitality of jazz, and the sounds of Cuban popular music dating back to the 1920s, Paredes is an exciting talent with a vivid imagination.

How the hell can anything "defiantly" catch your attention?

Why not just post events without comments until you learn how to write and how to accept criticism and opposing viewpoints. You come across like a petulant child.

To anonymous at 8:13, please do not use "mongoloid." Those with Down Syndrome are not responsible for their limitations. "Boobie" Downer is responsible for his.

Dear "Anonymous":

I am not against negative comments, but say something constructive. In a years time this blog will accomplish many good things for the Bronx.

I already expressed many times that the post about Sen. Valella was a request for prayer for those that wish to say a prayer due to his departure. My not deleting negative comments about him would allow you and others ,who hide behind your computers and anonymously post the opportunity to “dance on a dead man grave”. I will not have this on my conscious. I will not have this on my blog site. The man was loved by many in his community. I agree he was not perfect but comparing him in any way to Hitler or any other mass murder is not only erroneous but also silly. Let him and his family have their mourning period. Learn to respect other people cultures as well. It’s not all about you. If you don't like it the correct expression is; "don't let the door hit you on the way out."

In addition, “Beavis and Butt-head” comments under the protection of your right to say non-sense does not earn my respect either, and does nothing for the Bronx. There is much venom in many of the e-mails received. Once again, maybe part of the problem with why so many of our political leaders are sub par is because of this venom found in the community. It’s a two way relationship. Let’s bring standards back to society by having some standards ourselves. Let the man and his family have their 40 days to mourn the passing of a man who was loved by many.

Aren't you paraphrasing Socrates?

Did I say I was perfect somewhere?

I would be more concerned why you keep coming back to a site you think is run by a "Buffos". You’re not the only one that speaks Greek. I was going to say something, but then I would be like you. I have done and will do more for Hellenism then you will ever do. I think it was Socrates who said something to the effect that you should not argue with a fool. If you want to do something constructive find the quote and share it with us. Try to make it informative and not derogatory. Again, "Don't let the door hit you on the way out."

Anonymous @2:46 p.m. It was Sophocles, not Socrates.

Dear person 'Anonymous',
Is the misspelling of a word or two such reason for aggressive rebuttals and comments? Calm yourself you brute. Though critic of an individual in such a public forum is fair game and polite consideration, the disparaging tone such as yours is truly ugly and not welcomed. If you wish to critic to assist in improving and developing do so. Otherwise please cease expressing your sophomoric attempts grammatical propriety. You are wasting precious digital ink. Wink. --aLLLove

You must be a relative. Same butchered English.

What tragedy are you paraphrasing? What you're writing sounds a lot like Socrates telling the Athenians that he's the wisest man only because he knows he himself is not wise. There's something in the Apology where Socrates finds everyone he speaks to utterly ignorant and declares that he knows no more than they; however, he deems himself better off for knowing he doesn't know, while they claim to know when they on fact do not.

Trust me, it's Sophocles, either "Oedipus Rex" or "Antigone," and the words are spoken by the blind prophet, Tiresias. When the ice melts, I'll go to the library and check it out.

"You must be a relative. Same butchered English" you proclaim. I assure you, you can only assume at this point. Ah! By the way, such astute perception my good person-the evil preposition missing which of course precipitated your use of "butchered" in your allegation of me. Yet all you could respond back with, without providing any constructive retort, was a personal attack on a person you honestly do not know (me silly). And thank you for confirming that though you might have some knowledge of something, your level of civility in terms of public etiquette in an inconsequential digital forum is indeed none existent.
