WHEDco Offers FREE Workshop to Help Bronx Residents become NYC Green Cart Vendors

Here is a 20 year old non-profit "Killing two birds with one stone". It offers free workshops to start your own "Green cart produce vendor business". Bronx, NY – (February 7, 2011) – WHEDco, a Bronx-based non-profit organization, is hosting a free community workshop to help residents start their own businesses as NYC Green Cart fresh produce vendors on Wednesday, February 9, 2011. The workshop will be held at WHEDco’s Intervale Green Office at 1330 Intervale Ave., The Bronx, at 11am (Spanish) and at 1pm (English) in partnership with Karp Resources, NYC Green Carts technical assistance and training provider.
Workshop attendees will learn about the financial benefits of starting a NYC Green Cart business, how to apply for a mobile food vending permit, the start-up funds available to new Green Cart businesses, and the free marketing and technical assistance that WHEDco can offer to anyone interested in getting started in Crotona East/Morrisania and Bronx-wide. Any resident who wants to learn more about how to start their own profitable green cart business here in the Bronx should attend. There is no experience required and there are no fees to attend.

“If you’ve always wanted to be your own boss but never thought you had enough money, training or support, launching a Green Cart mobile food business could be the right start for you,” said Kerry A. McLean, WHEDco’s Community Development Project Manager. “Vendors can earn a solid income each year just by bringing fresh fruits and vegetables to the community.”
WHEDco is thrilled to offer free assistance, from help with the application process to business start-up and marketing help, to community members interested in starting a Green Cart business here in the Bronx. Anyone who already has a mobile food vendor or food handling certificate is especially encouraged to attend.
