Greatest Video Ever on Bronx Pride: Bronx Marks the Spot

Below is one of the best videos ever made on "Bronx Pride". It was produced by Bronxnet and shown during the Bronx Borough Presidents Annual Address last week. Besides the the hair chilling music track that combines opera and rap, it hosts dozens of Bronxites like Al Pacino, Ralph Lauren, Doris Roberts, Grand Master Mele Mel, Supreme Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor and even Edgar Allen Poe. For anyone with roots in the Bronx who is sick and tired of negative depictions and maligning comments about our beloved Borough, I guarantee it will fill you with Bronx Pride.

I know a blogger who is giving the Bronx a bad name by putting both feet in his mouth and then blaming the readers who criticize his rambling, defensive blogs.

Good video, but it will take more than singing its praises to change the Bronx's reputation. It needs honest business people and honest politicians. It needs cleaner, quieter, and safer streets. It needs more supermarkets and fewer 99 cent stores. It needs families who care for their children, who prepare them for school instead of blaming teachers for not being able to work miracles on them when they come to school full of junk food, TV, video games, and sleepless nights.
The Bronx was and can still be great, but that greatness has to come from those who call it home.

While I truly believe the video was an outstanding Idea, and I really like it, it's going to take a lot more then that video to undo the damage the American Idol video about the Bronx did. Almost 34 million people across the ENTIRE UNITED STATES,saw that show in one form or another. THIS ONE 3 MINUTE CLIP DID AS MUCH DAMAGE TO THE BRONX, AS HOWARD COSSELLS STATEMENT 34 years ago, "THE BRONX IS BURNING". For over 3 decades bronxites have been trying to live down this this potrayal of the Bronx. How about the image of "FORT APACHE THE BRONX". While some of our politicians really do care, all to many are silent! Maybe they don't want to bring attention to their misdeeds, Out of Sight, Is out Of Mind. One more thing Jenny From the Block, who was a product of all the things that were given to her in the Bronx to hone her skills, WAS ALSO SILENT! Her block isn't The Bronx, It's Rodeo Drive! Why hasn't she built a center in the Bronx to train teens in Dance & Music. She promised, has yet to keep her promise of 15 years ago. However!, she does want to build a production studio in Puerto Rico. The Bronx needs an Anchor Business to bring a real industry to the borough, not more NAIL SALONS, OR 99 CENT STORES.

Well said, Marc 54! But instead of waiting for Jenny, why can't every Bronxite make him/herself a model of integrity and industriousness?
Just imagine....

Re: Anon who says it'll take more than singing praises. Couldn't have said it better myself. Well put.
In the end it is up to us.
