This rental house is pretty sick. Stunning interior, yard. pool, fireplaces. For less than $800 a bedroom it's hard to beat. If you don;t have the cash for a down payment or the credit score to land that increasingly more elusive mortgage, this is a good option for a family. City Island is safe and can be down right quaint at times, nay even bucolic or idyllic.
There are tons of dining establishments, many of which are seafood based, but other Italian and pub grub options as well. Even though you're on an island with one way in and one way out by car, the BxM7 would take you back to civilization in a hurry as City Island's Express bus to Manhattan. The Bx29 would take you to the Pelham Bay Park 6 train stop for a more local commute. Obviously the Bx29 would also be your route to the Bronx at large.
If you want to check out City Island before signing on to rent this house, jump on the tourist trolley that runs on the first Friday of every month. And hey, even if you're not in the market for an isolated water front cottage, you should still check out the trolley to broaden your horizons. Click HERE for more details

You pulled me right in with the promise of a pool. Too funny! I've been thinking recently that maybe I should set up one of these babies in my yard - I would love a pool especially on hot days. I skimmed through the Sunday ads though and was taken aback - even the big inflatable pools need chlorine and a filter. Sounds mighty complicated.
