Photo of the Day

Hull Avenue @ E. 207th Street
Two words: Wraparound Porch.
Somebody should make the owner of this house
an offer they can't refuse and restore it to their heart's desire...

I grew up down the block from this house on Hull Avenue (I used to live at 3190 Hull Avenue). We would always referred to it as the “Haunted House” or the Abandoned House” because no one ever lived there and it was so creepy. Us wild kids always used to walk around in the backyard to play tag, play with worms or make mud pies but we would never go into the house. One time we build up enough nerve to open the door, take ten steps and ran out because, as I said before, it was so creepy (and dusty). What memories this house brought back!

Such a beautiful house! I can't even imagine how great this neighborhood was when people could afford to maintain such monster-houses! I say we venture inside sometime...

Too bad we cant build like this anymore. Is our city doomed to ever more cinder block Fedders specials, cheaply built without any imaginative or decorative details, at the cheapest cost? Just my two cents, but just visit the queens crap website to see what I am talking about, or simply look at some of the monstrosities built in our own backyard over the last couple of decades.
