The Bronx, Quite Literally, Rocks

BoogieDowner contributor and photography buff Simone Davis quite aptly named her website "The Bronx Rocks."

Bronxites might be interested to know that there's a band based out of LA that must think the Bronx rocks as well, because they chose our grand borough to serve as the inspiration for their name, "The Bronx."

Since BoogieDowner's inception we've received lots of Google Alerts on these guys. We're not really lovers of punk rock and so we didn't really pay much attention to them. But I always did wonder, "Why did they name themselves the Bronx?" I was beginning to think it was going to be much like the mysterious case of poor little Bronx Mowgli Wentz, Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz's kid, where we'd never really understand the reasoning behind the moniker.

Until today. We finally got a useful Google Alert on the band, "The Bronx." The article it linked to held the answer to the mystery... Straight from the Colorado Daily website interview, here is our answer:
"We're based out of L.A., but we decided to call the group The Bronx," vocalist Matt Caughthran said. "The goal of this band is to do things differently. Calling ourselves The Bronx just shows that we have our own way of thinking and doing things." [Source: Colorado Daily]
Pretty goddamn boring explanation, right? Just another crew of hipster-types with their 'own way of thinking.' Blah.

Anyway, if you're into punk music, you may like these guys... Check out their website. They're actually going to be releasing a mariachi album this summer called (natch), "El Bronx."

Attention Anita Colby and Bronx Underground/Revolution folks: I think these guys need to strengthen their street cred by playing on of your shows. Get on that!
