NEW YORK — Council Member Fernando Cabrera is excited the New York State Senate Education Committee chaired by Senator John J. Flanagan voted unanimously yesterday, Jan. 24th, to bring Bill 6087A to the Senate floor for a vote by the general body. Bill 6087A would amend education law in relation to authorizing religious meetings and worship in school buildings and school sites.
“I salute the New York State Senate Education Committee on taking bold and decisive action on this important issue,” said Council Member Fernando Cabrera. “I am confident the Assembly will follow suit, and urge Governor Cuomo to sign the legislation when it reaches his desk.” He continued, “I look forward to our March across the Brooklyn Bridge this Sunday. The fight is not over.”
Councilman Fernando Cabrera has served the 14th Council District of the Bronx since January 2010 and as senior pastor for New Life Outreach International in the Bronx since 1988.
