Travel with The Bronx Opera on a journey to other worlds and realities in Mozart’s The Magic Flute. This timeless and highly-recognized classic tells the story of Prince Tamino’s quest to save Princess Pamina, daughter of the Queen of the Night, from the vile Sarastro and his macabre slave Monostatos. Boogie Down Dance Series @ BAAD

BQExpress = Creative Outlet Dance Theater of Brooklyn + Topaz Arts Dance Productions - This thrilling evening criss-crosses New York City’s “outer boroughs” with works that zip from Brooklyn to Queens and land in the Bronx. Creative Outlet Dance Theatre of Brooklyn brings their latest production, Forces, a contemporary and African laced dance that follows the structure of a hurricane. 'Rossini's "La Cenerentola" (Cinderella)' - Saturday, 5/9, at 12:30pm. Italian for Cinderella, "La Cenerentola" is propelled by soaring melodies, laced with humor both subtle and broad and is an opera for all ages, but it's no fairy tale. Rossini and his librettist managed to tell the tale without a hint of magic, creating a Cinderella for the Age of Reason. La Cenerentola celebrates the goodness and integrity that are available to us all without supernatural intervention. It gives its prince genuine reason to fall in love with Cinderella. Homeowner Workshop @ Lehman High School
Tomorrow, 5/9, at the Library of Lehman High School (3000 E. Tremont Avenue) from 10:30am to 1pm... As a record number of New York City homeowners fall behind on their mortgages and millions of middle-class families strive to make ends meet, Council Member James Vacca (D-Bronx) and the Neighborhood Initiatives Development Corporation (NIDC) are seeking to help local homeowners protect their investments with a series of informational workshops. A light breakfast will be provided and free child care will be available.
