NYC Comptroller Liu Statement on Mayor's Pension Proposal

NYC Comptroller Liu

Here is a statement from the Comptroller that sounds reasonable and on the money. I am not a Police Office or a Fireman so I am not aware of all the details developing but I assume there's a major fight brewing between the Comptroller and the Mayor. It’s also clear that our Comptroller understands you need to protect our Finest and Bravest as well as making sure promises are kept. Including promises made by the government. To our finest and bravest out there, please do shed some light.

Just in case anyone cares Comptroller Liu is a graduate of my Alma Mater, S.U.N.Y Binghamton. Since were on the topic, Could he be our next Mayor?

LIU STATEMENT ON MAYOR’S PENSION PROPOSAL
******************************************
NEW YORK, NY – New York City Comptroller John C. Liu stated the following in response to several inquiries about his reaction to Mayor Bloomberg’s pension proposal:

“Everyone agrees on the need to explore pension reform and crack down on pension fraud and abuse. We also agree that New York City should be empowered to negotiate pension benefits. I am, however, extremely concerned with a proposal that breaks a promise, particularly one made to our Finest and Bravest who risk their lives every day to keep New Yorkers safe.”
