More New Trees in Bedford Park

We received the following info from a very excited BD Reader:
Just to let you know...
205th between East Mosholu Parkway and the Grand Concourse will be TREE LINED!
Markings have been painted on the sidewalk..and the Dept of Prks have started working on it!
8 trees in total!

A sign of quality life improvement??!!

To top it off..after they are done, since I'm a resident of the neighborhood...I'll be planting some iris and lilies under those same trees.
Excellent news to hear that Bedford Park will be getting some new trees, and even better news to hear that a resident will be adding additional plantings to the new greenery! Imagine what our streets would look like if every resident went the extra mile like this?

I'm so glad to hear that the Bronx is continuing to get it's share of these trees. Over the last couple of years, Melrose has blossomed, pun intended, with literally thousands of new trees. Streets went from having 1 or 2 trees to a whopping 35-40 trees on some blocks! The aesthetic effects on the neighborhood are second only to the positive environmental impact that they have.

Get community members involved in taking care of the trees. it takes about 15 gallons of water per tree per week to keep them healthy and once they are planted, it's up to mother nature - or caring neighborhood residents to take care of their trees.

311 and parks are extremely responsive if you call in a tree that has died and they will send someone out immediately and get it replaced since they are under warranty.

Sorry for the long-winded comment, but trees make me happy! :) and so does the beautification of our most beautiful borough :)

Yes I have seen markings all along the blocks in our area for trees. I wasn't sure what those marks were till I read this!
