Listing of the Day: Bargain Bin

1425 Thieriot Avenue, 1 bedroom - $98,500

BoogieDowner is a huge fan of great deals, so here is an apartment south of $100K. There is something psychologically liberating about staying below the 6 figure mark for an apartment. This is especially true of an apartment that actually has indoor plumbing and a decent kitchen and bathroom.

The particular apartment is just north of the Cross Bronx Expressway and wedged between Parkchester and West Farms. Naturally, the listing agent claims that this is IN Parkchester (which it is not), but hey, I can't knock his hustle.

You'd be close to Bronx Park (which contains the Zoo and the Botanical Garden), and you'd be near all the amenities of Parkchester (Macy's, a real gym, a Starbucks, lots of shopping).

Transportation is not as great as other Listings of the Day. In fact, this unit seems to be right in the middle of the 5,2, and 6 trains. The closest stop would be the Lawrence Ave 6 train stop, but it really isn't just around the corner. There might be some bus action involved. Or then again, if you buy an apartment for less than $100k, you should have some dough left over to buy a bike.

You are right the transportation is crappy, I live a few blocks away. The easiest way would be to take the 36 bus down to the West Farms #2. Or walk to the #6.
