I guess this is a very soft market for renting out converted French B&Bs on City Island. It looks like former Beep, Adolfo Carrion, is still trying to rent out his old digs on City Island. BoogieDowner had profiled this unit back in July when it was listed at $4,200/month (a chop from an original $4,600). Then the old BD stalked the listing and found a second rental chop in September down to $4,000.

Well, now this puppy has been reduced down to $4,000...$3,800

Addie's off in Washington (although no one is really quite sure what he's doing), and he is still trying to rent his opulent City Island pad.

The craigslist ad BoogieDowner stumbled upon doesn't explicitly mention that it is Carrion's house, but there's only one "Former French B&B" on City Island and only one ex-Beep who used to reside in the aforementioned former French B&B.

From BoogieDowner's past jaunts on City Island Avenue, we can certainly affirm the house's party potential.

This is a little out of most BoogieDowner readers' budgets, but I heard it has a pretty sick catwalk...*wink*wink*

Party Like a Politician

Nice deck, Addie!

You may all remember a little story about our former Bronx Borough Prez Adolfo Carrion Jr. maybe, sorta, kinda getting a too good to be true deal on some renovations on his home on City Island, right?

Well we were on City Island on Saturday for some lunch at Artie's (which was delish, but the place was crowded with graduation celebrations and service was unfortunately nonexistent) and ice cream at Lickety Split, so we decided to take a little stroll past Mr. Carrion's humble abode to see how the other half lives.

Yep, as expected the other half is living pretty damn large. His house, which is the former site of the now defunct Le Refuge Inn, is beyond gorgeous and sits right across the street from THIS VIEW:
Apparently Mr. Carrion was having some sort of soiree and there were workers buzzing all over the grounds setting up tables and chairs and what not:

We've now realized that we need to get into politics if we ever want to be able throw a party where our guests aren't forced to eat off of tv tray tables...

Nobody wants to be caught eating off of tv tray tables... it just ain't a cool way to party. Hence, the green circles to protect our dear guests' anonymity.

It's Official (well, almost): Carrion Headed to DC

Daily News' Bob Kappstatter got the exclusive scoop (we don't call him the Silver Fox for nothing... the man is good): Adolfo Carrion is headed to DC to serve as director of the new White House Office on Urban Policy. The White House will officially announce the news sometime today. Click here to check out Kappy's full story.

Too bad Kappy isn't a betting man... He could have made some moolah. In his omniscient column early yesterday, he declared that A.C. "would be getting word this week that he's got the job as President Obama's urban policy director."

Stay tuned for all the hub-bub regarding who'll throw their hats in the ring for the Beep position.

It's not HUD Secretary But...

Adolfo Carrion Jr. was thought to be a leading candidate to be the Obama administration's HUD Secretary - until he opened his big fat mouth to some stupid Yale students.

Well, Addie didn't get the HUD gig, but he did end up with a spot a at the table of the Obama administration. Carrion will be tapped to head the White House Office of Urban Policy as the new president's director of urban affairs.

Adolfo's term as Bronx beep lasts until Dec 31 of next year. His spot will be filled by a special election. BoogieDowner is sure that in keeping with the grand tradition of Bronx pol tics the ensuing battle for the beep-stakes will be sheer lunacy. Who are the contenders?

Carrion Possible HUD Secretary

The BoogieDown's beep has a decent shot at being a member of the Obama administration. Jonathan P. Hicks of the NY Times is reporting that Mr. Carrion is a serious candidate for the Housing and Urban Development post.

We hope that Adolfo remembers his roots in the Bronx when he is in Washington and makes sure the BoogieDown is taken care with lots of housing and urban development.

The BoogieDowner would also like to point out another historic barrier broken with this potential appointment: a guy basically named Adolf might rise to a cabinet position after WWII. I think maybe the Secretary of Education's name might be Judas.

BoogieDowner wholeheartedly supports Mr. Carrion's potential appointment. We heart him.

Beep Responds to Bronx Wentz's Name

Adolfo Carrion, Jr., the Bronx Borough President is quoted by Gothamist as stating,

“It’s great to hear that Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson named their son after such great place. I hope baby Bronx gets the opportunity to see what a beautiful and eclectic borough he was named after.”

The BoogieDowner, along with the Bronx Borough President's Office (for the sake of transparency, let it be known Carrion's office has not deputized us for this task, nor do we have any official relationship with Mr. Carrion's office) officially extends an invite to Bronx Wentz and his parents to come to the Bronx and take a tour with us. Or at the very least have a play date with baby Pearl at the Botanical Garden or the Zoo.

Beep Wants You to Get Involved in Community Boards

Borough President Adolfo Carrion is inviting Bronx residents to make a difference in their community by joining their local Community Board. The Office of The Bronx Borough President will be accepting applications for all 12 Community Boards from city residents who live or have professional or other significant interests in The Bronx.

“Participation on local Community Boards can provide Bronx residents with a forum to share their expertise and talents with their community,” stated Borough President Carrion. “It is important that residents are engaged in the issues that affect communities including budget, land use and service delivery issues,” concluded Carrion.

Applications are available at the Borough President’s Community Board office at (718) 590-3914 or at your local community board office. Interested applicants may also get forms on line at http://www.bronxboropres.nyc.gov/. The deadline for submission of applications is February 2, 2009.

Request Bike Racks for the Bronx With the Click of a Mouse

In a Daily News piece yesterday, Bob Kappstatter detailed Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion, Jr.'s push to make the BoogieDown a more bike-friendly place.

Carrion is encouraging Bronx residents to visit his office's website and click on the green bike sign on the lower left-hand side of the homepage to formally request bike racks through the Department of Transportation's CITYRACKS program.

So get your thinking caps on and figure out where your community could most benefit from a new bike rack or two. There are a few guidelines to keep in mind while requesting a bike rack installation... you can view them here.
