$1 Mimosas at the Ice House

In my mind, the only thing that trumps daytime drinking has got to be early morning drinking. And nothing quite gives you the license to enjoy an acoholic beverage before 4pm quite like the mimosa - bloody mary's do the trick as well, but they imply that you're simply nursing the pain from last night. Sipping a mimosa at 10am just implies classy awesomeness.

I can hardly believe this is true, but we received an email blast from the Ice House Restaurant (located in the Hammonds Cove Marina in Throggs Neck) announcing the reopening of their outdoor deck and $1 mimosas on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 2pm. Holy good lord - can you imagine the possibilities on a sunny day with a mere 20 bucks in your pocket? Ahoy!

We went there for a lunch back in December and really liked the place. The picture above is the view on a gloomy day right before we got tons of snow...So you can imagine how pretty it must be on a nice spring day.

The Ice House is also offering an after-parade special (the Throggs Neck St. Patrick's Parade will take place Sunday, March 14th) of fresh corned-beef on rye bread, potato salad, and a beer for $9.95 for lunch and $12.95 for dinner.

What is up with the street sign in the picture? A. CarriĆ³n, Jr. Way?

Is that real? If it is real, which thoroughfare bears the White House Office of Urban Affairs Director's name? The dock? The parking lot? The inlet?
