Listing of the Day: Fordham Rental

2408 Webster Ave., 4 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom - $1500/month

It's hard to believe but this seems to actually be a four bedroom apartment for only $1500/month. The location isn't the greatest on Webster and 187th, but you'd be super close to Fordham Road and Little Italy is only 4 or 5 blocks east on 187th.Add Image

The pictures do not seem to indicate that this 4 bedroom is a converted slaughterhouse or meth lab, which is what one would expect for $375 a bedroom per month. So that's a bonus, no?

If you're looking for super cheap rent and actually have 3 friends, take a shot a this puppy.

Transportation is not bad with the B/D at Fordham Road and the Concourse, multiple buses on Webster Avenue and Fordham Road, and the Metro North Fordham station in walking distance.

Listing of the Day: 1 Bedroom Co-op for 65K

2661 Marion Ave, 1 Bedroom - $65,000

Seriously, the post title is correct: $65K for an apartment. This one bedroom is cheaper than a 20% down payment on most Manhattan studios. This apartment is cheaper than a Cadillac Escalade. This asking price is less than one year's salary of a NYC public school teacher with ten years experience. Do you get the point? This apartment is insanely cheap.

Admittedly the pictures are really poor, and one would imagine there is some TLC needed, but a good investment nonetheless. At least it has indoor plumbing for $65K. Take it from Slick Rick on the benefits of owning in the Bronx.

The nabe would be Fordham, which can certainly be rough around the edges, but you do have Fordham Road (and proximity to Maria's Tacos), the Botanical Garden, the Zoo, the baddest library in the Bronx and fantastic transportation. B/D at Fordham Road and the Concourse, 4 at Jerome and the Concourse, and Metro North at Webster Avenue and Fordham Road.

Is this the cheapest one bedroom in the City? The BoogieDowner thinks so.

Listing of the Day: Belmont Rental

693 E. 189th Street 2 Bedrrom 1 Bath - $1125/mo

Split this rent with a friend and you live in a fun neighborhood with food and cafes and great culinary shopping for $562.50 a month! Can you even get parking for that in Harlem?

Belmont is very close to the Bronx Zoo and the NY Botanical Garden for fun. The BX12 bus runs down Fordham Rd. to the B/D at Grand Concourse and further to the 4 at Jerome Ave. And hey, since you'll be saving so much money on rent, why not treat yourself to a Metro-North ticket at the Fordham stop at Fordham Rd. and Webster Ave. and be in Grand Central in 18 minutes?

Fordham University is also a neighborhood presence with tons of cultural things to offer, and lectures, and lots of goofy white kids in the neighborhood. Another added bonus from Fordham University, on top of stability, beauty and top notch education it brings to the hood, is A-10 division one hoops. Season tickets for Rams basketball are only $195 (another great way to spend all that extra cash).

This apartment is in Belmont and close to 187th and Arthur Avenue, which are great stretches lined with cafes, restaurants and pastry shops. My favorite 187th restaurant is Tra Di Noi, but to be honest if you lived here you would be REQUIRED to go to Emilia's on Arthur Ave. - simply the best! And try to get a table at Mayor Bloomberg's beloved Roberto's on Crescent Ave. - very good, but in my opinion, a tad overrated.
Save money, have fun, eat well, rent in Belmont.

Listing of the Day: Too Good To Be True?

2415 Creston Ave., 3 Bedroom - $1350/month

Doth my eyes deceive me? A three bedroom apartment that rents for $1,350 in the Fordham section of the Bronx just might be the cheapest three bedroom rental in the city. The BoogieDowner has outdone itself in bargain hunting. We once boldly stated that we had found the "cheapest three bedroom in the city", and even Curbed took notice. But this puppy is even cheaper than that previously declared find.

Now we all know that sometimes listings can be deceiving and that some real estate agents will blatantly lie about sizes and location. We hope the listing agent, Jhoanni, is an upstanding professional and that this listing is truthful. I hate to even raise the spectre of anything being fishy and this being too good to be true, but $1,350/month for a three bedroom is outrageously cheap - even by Bronx standards.

Jhoanni, if you're out there please confirm that this is actually three bedrooms and that the price is in U.S. dollars and not Euros. The pics aren't great, but at this price it's hard to complain about anything.

This location is not bad either. 188th and the Concourse is right near the B/D at Fordham Road and right near all that Fordham Rd. shopping, Poe Park, and that super-duper Kingsbridge Library.

And just for kicks, the BoogieDowner want to run the numbers. Assuming that this is split by three people, each would pay $450/mo, which is $112/week, which is $16/day. I'd call less than $20 a day a pretty good deal for housing, no?
