Espada Trading Pineapples For Petition Signatures?

Here are a few videos from resident political gadfly and blogger Rafael Martínez Alequín, via the Daily Politics, that allegedly show Westchester Pete giving away bags of food at Vladeck Hall in the Amalgamated Housing Cooperative on June 26. We wonder how many of the 10,000 signatures he brandished at the Bronx Board of Elections were garnered in similar fashion?

Does the Daily News, ect. know about this? I'm not up on all my election laws, but this seems very suspicious. I mean I applaud him doing something nice, but it just seems so transparently fake. And if he's siphoning $$ from another organization to fund this. . .

Is this guy for real? If even a fraction of the allegations against him are true how in the heck is this guy a viable candidate? C'mon, Bronx.

Unfortunately the poor have been used and abused for political gain since the dawn of time. It has nothing to do with the Bronx.

This is nothing new, and Espada is following the usual tried-and-true path to public office in the Bronx. Wanna know why the Bronx sunk, and why it is falling behind the other boroughs? Politicians like these.

The politicians get elected by the ignorant masses who vote for them.

In the last election, there was no choice - one criminal or another.

This time there is. Any one of those running against Espada would be a better choice. Let's see if Bronx voters can get beyond the lure of free food.

Espada likes to do these kinds of events, making it appear he has the backing of institutions where he does them, even though he doesn't. two years ago he did in at Our Lady of Refuge without any permission or sanction, and this year he's also doing it at St Brendan's. Neither church is in on it, but you wouldn't know it from the flyers he mails out. He's really sneaky.

I recognized a bunch of the amalgamated people... hope he isn't buying their votes so easily. this is sad.
