Another Fire Devastates Norwood's 204th Street

Yet another 5 alarm fire has broken out on 204th Street near Bainbridge Avenue, directly adjacent to the site of the fire that took place in October. Foodtown (which was recently renovated), the American Diner, and a dental office were all destroyed, and a bank was severely damaged.

This is devastating news, and our hearts go out to all the business owners, employees, and residents who have been affected. Click here for NY1's coverage.

Here are some photos we took this morning.

I wonder if there is a way old Bronx stores can be made more fireproof without the cost being outrageous.

I just came from there.

The bank was not destroyed. The windows are still intact. But its 3:30 and they're still pouring water on it.

Has to be arson no?

Man, that neighborhood can't catch a break this year. My heart goes out to the community. I don't believe it was arson automatically- more likely carelessness, a malfunction, or a combination of that, but it damn well better be investigated. We need fire codes better enforced, and businesses rebuilt forthwith.
