Ingredient Location Help Needed

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas.

So I received a subscription to Cooks Illustrated for Christmas - Thanks Pikey! - and there are lots of great recipes in the first issue, but I need some help locating a few ingredients in the BoogieDown.

I really want to make the recipe for Thai Spicy Basil Chicken, but some of the ingredients are absent from my normal loop of gastronomic shopping (Arthur Avenue, Stew Leonard's, Stop and Shop).

No one seems to have fish sauce, Thai oyster sauce, or hot basil -n.b. this is not the normal Italian basil.

Any ideas? I'm thinking that maybe the small Vietnamese stores on Jerome south of Kingsbridge Road might have some of these. I am not pining to schlep down to Chinatown either, so please don't state the obvious that I can procure these goodies down there.

Thanks

A&P in Bronxville has an international food aisle.
or
There's an Asian food store, New Golden Village, at 365 Central Avenue in Scarsdale.
or
Wait for Fairway to come to Pelham.

Any Asian market should have these ingredients. I know there must be several in the Bronx. If you find one, look for Three Crabs brand fish sauce. It is one of the best.

Also, if you have a Whole Foods near you, they have these things as well.

Good luck!

On the corner of Kingsbridge Road and 194th St. (right where Kingsbridge turns toward Poe Park) there are three ethnic food stores in a row and I'm pretty sure one of them is Asian, maybe Vietnamese. I think it's called Batambang or something like that.

Yes, the place by the library would be the closest to you (Batambang). I think it's actually Cambodian, but they should have everything you need.

Korean-owned produce shops often have Asian grocery items. Also, have you tried Garden Gourmet on Broadway/233rd?

The Foodtown on Broadway & 231st has Fish Sauce and the Thai Oyster sauce, but probably not the hot basil.
