Have you ever wondered what Yoga Is About?

Yoga means balanced union — a system for creating the balanced well being of the total person. Hatha Yoga joins body, mind and spirit into a balanced whole as it combines asanas or postures with deep breathing, relaxation, a healthful diet and proper thinking. Unlike other forms of physical exercise, yoga has something for everyone. No one is excluded.

Yoga can be modified and adapted to suit the needs for everyone.

Have you ever wanted to practice how to do the poses?

Is a yoga practice for you?

Come and experience a Free Demonstration Class and explore what yoga can do for you!

The class will consist of postures, breathing and relaxation.

Bring a yoga mat, towel, and wear comfortable clothing.

Call 347 590 2394 for more information.

AFFORDABLE AND EFFECTIVE YOGA CLASSES NOW OFFERED IN THE NORTHWEST BRONX
(Regular Practice of Kripalu Yoga Can Free Your Mind, Body and Spirit, Says Certified Instructor, Who Brings Ancient Science to The Bronx)

Yoga classes are now being taught in the Bronx by certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor Greg O'Donovan. Calling the group, Bronx Community Yoga, Greg is teaching at Musuko's MMA Pure Intense Training School, 3037 Webster Avenue. The School is within walking distance from the D and 4 trains, and near the 41 and 55 buses, and the Botanical Gardens on the Metro North train line. Class times are on Monday evenings at 6:15, Saturday afternoons at 1:30, and Sundays at 3 PM. Classes are $12. For more information please call 917-862-5021. The number for the Musuko's Training School is 347-401-5173.

Greg has been a long time Yoga practicioner, and graduated from the Kripalu School of Health and Yoga in the Berskhires, Massachusetts, November 2007. He's taught throughout the tri-State area, creating a number of special programs including one for the New York State prison system to help inmates deal with anger and stress management in their lives. He worked two years for Community services to help women inmates use Yoga to deal with health issues including obesity, diabetes, and AIDS. He taught workshops to the FBI after September 11 to help them manage stress.

Born in Ireland, Greg first worked as an actor in Australia, winning awards at the Sydney Theatre Festival. He was cast in the soap opera, HOME AND AWAY, and worked in a number of TV shows and commercials down under for ten years. In the early '90s, Greg spent a year in Japan; that was when he began to practice Yoga. He continued, as he moved to New York City, and found acting work on TV Shows: LAW & ORDER, LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT, GHOST STORIES. His theatrical resume includes a number of TV movies: THE LEAVING OF LIVERPOOL, NEW AMERICANS, and ACT OF BETRAYAL, the independent film, THE RUNAWAY, plus acting and directing Off Broadway plays.

in addition to Greg teaching Yoga in a variety of venues, he's found time to work on a Nursing and Science degree at Bronx Community College. "in Yoga, we have a big emphasis on breathing, posture, improving our mind-body-spiritual connection at one's own rate," says Greg. He notes that the path is, "not about seeking perfection, but to be a whole person. Yoga helps us form a connection to our bodies: in mental, physical and spiritual relationships. Yoga is an invitation to explore, not a command performance; you're not pressured to perform perfectly in the class but find your exploration of the pose."

Kripalu Yoga is known as the Yoga of Compassion. The founder, Swami Kripalu (1913-1981) taught at the Kripalu Center in the Berkshires from 1977-81.

Yoga is a 5000 year old science that originated in India. Medical experts have found that--if practiced regularly-people will improve health problems including high blood pressure, weight, respiration and heart functions, stress, and back pain. There is evidence to suggest that Yoga has helped diabetics lower their blood glucose levels and some asthmatics have been able to lower their medication doses with medical supervision. Others who've practiced Yoga regularly says it has helped them with stress, concentration, spirituality, mental issues, and understanding their unique mind-body connection. Yoga is regularly used to help Post Traumatic Stress, including with Veterans returning from war.

An estimated 13.4 million Americans practice Yoga at least two times per week.
