Crown Acquisitions Scooping up Westchester Ave. Properties

Crown Acquisitions just purchased another store front at 1553 Westchester Avenue in the Soundview section of the Bronx.

"The purchase represents the second retail property space Crown Acquisitions has acquired on Westchester Avenue, the other being 1593 Westchester Avenue. That building is fully leased to tenants including Duane Reade and Dunkin Donuts, and was purchased by Crown Acquisitions about five years ago. Chera feels that the lease to AT&T validates the market’s obvious growth in Soundview." [Patrick Rocchio, Yournabe.com]

It's nice to see people still investing in the Bronx, despite the overall economic meltdown.

LIsting of the Day: Soundview House

1994A Powell Ave. 3 Bedrooms 1.5 Bathrooms - $379,000

This isn't the fanciest house in the world, but it's a decent house at a decent price. The kitchen and the bathrooms are certainly not updated with granite and and new fixtures, but you can tell that this dwelling was lived in and cared for. At such a low price, the BoogieDowner thought this would be a fixer-upper or a 'needs TLC' listing.

If you take a look, this house is actually a little charming. And you'd get a one car garage, which means guaranteed parking! You'd also have a backyard, which not every Bronx house can boast.

The house is located in the area south of Parkchester and the Cross Bronx Expressway, but north of the Bruckner Expressway. I guess you can call this Soundview, but I've always felt Soundview was a little further south past the Bruckner. Is this Castle Hill? Bronx neighborhood boundaries, why do you elude me?

A reasonable house at a reasonable asking price. That's what the Bronx is about people: a house or an apartment you can actually live in for a price that you can actually afford. If Wall Street had taken this simple Bronx-inspired real estate maxim to heart, maybe we wouldn't be in this mess. Glad we solved that whole national financial unpleasantness -now it's time to tackle breakfast.

Listing of the Day: A Driveway for Ten Cars in Soundview

2042 Chatterton Ave, 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms - $449,888

Before you ask yourself how such a non-round number is the asking price, consider this: the listing claims that the property has a driveway long enough for TEN CARS!

I am not quite sure when that was measured (or how), but that is a pretty serious measurement. Kinda like when in grade school they tell you that your intestines are really miles long if they were unraveled.

For less than half a mil, you can park all ten of your rides and still have a a little greenery next to your house to enjoy. ( I really wish there was a pic of that damned driveway!)

Soundview is sort of near the water, which is nice. Transportation is a little tough with no direct subway stop. You'd be riding the bus, or driving one of the cars in your automotive harem.

What's more outlandish: a 3 bedroom apartment that rents for $1600/mo or needing/wanting/advertising a driveway for ten cars?
