Sustainable South Bronx Distributing 200 Free Trees to Local Residents

Here is news from another community minded organization related to a free tree give away. Thanks for the news Angela. Hopefully these trees will help beautify the community as well as helping local air quality.

Good Morning,

I am writing on behalf of Sustainable South Bronx. On April 14, 2012, at Hunts Point Riverside Park, we are distributing 200 trees to local residential property owners free of charge. The event, which takes place from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, will also feature various resources such as recycling materials courtesy of GrowNYC, healthy snacks, and information for community residents interested in becoming more environmentally conscious. This project is part of our effort to provide neighborhood residents with the resources to green their local community and work towards a healthier South Bronx.

We would like to share this opportunity with as many Bronxites as we can reach. Is it possible to post this on your blog? We know that the BoogieDowner is a great source of info for many in the community. Any efforts to share this information will be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if this is a possibility.

Thank you,
Angela

Upcoming GrowNYC Recycling Events in the Bronx

There are a couple recycling events coming to the Bronx. The first is at the Parkchester Greenmarket next Friday, October 28th from 9am-2pm, and the second is on November 2nd from 9am to 3pm at the New York Botanical Gardens Greenmarket during their Fall Harvest Fest.

These recycling events are organized by GrowNYC to help divert waste from landfills and our ocean!!!. If you have unwanted items you were considering throwing away, here is a convenient way to dispose of them without hurting our environment.

Special thank you to Alyson Schill of GrowNYC for the information. For more information, visit http://www.grownyc.org/clothing or call 212.788.7964.
