BxNN Fundraiser at Bronx Ale HouseTomorrow Night

Come on, you know you're just dying for a good excuse to do a little weeknight drinking tomorrow night...and what better excuse could there be than to show some support for the gang over at Bronx News Network? They're hosting a fundraiser tomorrow night at the Bronx Ale House where attendees will be lucky enough to sneak a peek at their new website...The official rsvp date for the event was last Friday, so definitely call in advance to see if there's space for latecomers. All the info you'll need is in the above image.

Hats Off to BNN

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that the folks over at Bronx News Network are pretty happy the weekend is finally here.... maybe now they can finally get some shut-eye after a grueling week of Bronx primary coverage.

Click here to check out all their play-by-play coverage of Primary Day, including the debates they hosted leading up to the elections, as well as the subsequent reactions from both the victors and the defeated.

As we were following the coverage, all I could keep thinking as each new post was uploaded was, "How in the world are they doing all this?"

So, on behalf of all concerned Bronx constituents, we're sending up a great big THANK YOU to Bronx News Network...

Ollie Koppell and the Missing L

Bronx News Network has a very funny (and somewhat scary) post about how some of incumbent City Councilmember Oliver Koppell's campaign material misspells the candidate's own name. See the photographic evidence after the jump.

Can't we do better than this in the Bronx?

Kingsbridge Armory Updates

The Bronx News Network has two very good updates today about the progress of the Kingsbridge Armory development.

UPDATE 1 is about the meeting that will be held at Lehman College next Wednesday, June 24th. More nitty-gritty details after the jump. It sound like people will be getting their pitchforks and torches ready. BD, on the other hand, thinks that having something done there is better that having a vacant and fallow space.

UPDATE 2 is good news from City Councilman Oliver Koppell's office that space has been freed up for schools on the Armory site.

Thanks for keeping up on this stuff, guys.

The Artist Formerly Known as West Bronx Blog

Bronx News Network was on fire today.

They had a great post about our favorite State Senator (and neighbor?) and how he is one of only two newly elected State Senators who has not set up a district office yet. Shame on you, Pedro. Get to work for your constituents and stop politically extorting committee chairmanships and the lulus that come with them.

They also had a great report on last night's heated community meeting about the new transitional homeless shelter on Briggs Ave. in Bedford Park. BoogieDowner had full intentions to attend, but didn't get home from work until well after 8pm. I swear I'm not a negligent community member!

Good job, BNN.
